ive lvled a couple of times a mage and it was hard...
The dmg was great though but low hp and mana burns like hell.
So i was wondering HOW THE HELL TO LVL A MAGE????
plz help, im so jalouse at mages doing such high crits at 70 but never worked with lvling iti too would like some tips , i'm not a noob but i don't have time to really study the game , it just feels like
i have ALOT of down time and die far too often (made a 70 rogue 52 pally already and did not have any problems)
Things i'd like to know is what spec is best for lvling and how to spend talent points as you lvl , i have a lvl 30 undead mage atm thats always been frost spec since i made itin my opinion
if you can not survive in pve
you will certainly not survive in pvp.
however - if you
want to level - you should spec frost and pop out ice barrier everytime it's ready.
Get clearcasting in arcane and all the rest in frost.
i leveled with Master of elements - all the rest in frost - but it is not the best choice in my opinion - cause it's more of an AOE spec.
you got to keep in mind enemies should NOT hit you directly from your hp - or you will die fast....

- Fire ward and Frost ward
in addition of Ice block and Ice barrier if you're frost.
You have frost nova - blink - ice armor that slows mellee enemies - and frostbite that procs way more than you can imagine.
leveling a mage is damn easy in my opinion.
I've actually found mages to be fairly easy to level. They may not level the fastest (or maybe I just don't level fast), but I've never really had any trouble with them.
My first char was a mage, and honestly I found that the whole "squishy" characteristic really doesn't matter that much if you spec frost. I've never specced fire for early leveling but I know frost provides amazing control over mobs. I find it very easy to kill mob after mob of the same level or slightly higher without taking any damage. Frost is also damn well mana efficient. Of course you're going to have longer downtimes than most classes, but with
Evocation every 10mins and limitless free water, I don't find it to be that troubling.
In my opinion its incredibly easy to get out of a bad situation with a mage. If you pull too many, have Ice Armor on and use Frost Nova, then run away while blinking. Any mobs not frozen will be slowed by your armor and you get an instant 20m head start while running.
It's also easy to take down high level mobs (as long as they don't resist) through kiting techniques, so they really aren't a problem either.
All in all, leveling a mage really isn't that bad if you do it right.As I understand it, hardest class to level is warrior.
If you find a mage hard to level, their playstyle may not be for you. Try a warlock or something =)i got a 70 lock and a 70 mage and i found that the mage took way less time tho i had the lock for 3 yrs and bak then it was hard as hell 2 lvl, so i was frost till lvl 45 then people told me 2 respec fire till 58 but fire burns 2 much mana and its just a bit boring but yeah my mage lvled real fast, i rly say priest r the hardest class 2 lvlFire, for me, has been the fastest leveling spec on my mage.
I was frost 'til aboutu 43 and then my boyfriend decided
he should respec her to fire.
I have now sailed straight through to 52 - and I am not the fastest of levellers!
I also suggest keeping on top of your gear, by getting my tailoring to a point where I'm making gear 10 levels higher than I am (currently at 52 with 330 tailoring) I could make sure I had the best I could afford.
Also, get most of your gear to be "Of The Eagle", however, this on my
server (Earthen Ring EU) is the most expensive form of cloth after "Of The Sorcerer" but having both Int and Stam on your gear helps make you last longer. Also find as much gear with +spelldmg on it - don't rely purely on +firedmg etc. General spell damage is the best.
